December Closings

December 31, January 1 and 2 — New Year's Holidays
NO MATERIALS ARE DUE WHEN THE LIBRARY IS CLOSED. |
ADDISON SWITCHBOARD GIFT TAG PROJECT
Again this holiday season, the Addison Library will have a Christmas tree in our lobby with gift tags for needy children. If you would like to participate, choose a gift tag from the tree with the child’s age, sex, and size. Return the tag with a new gift for that child to the Library.
The Addison Switchboard will distribute these gifts to children in Addison who, without your generosity, might not receive anything this holiday season. The deadline for returning gifts is December 12th.
If you wish to make a monetary gift instead of taking a tag and doing the shopping for the Addison Switchboard’s Christmas drive, you can contact the Switchboard:
Phone 630-628-2698
Or send a donation to
Addison Community Switchboard (Christmas Drive)
193 W. Michael Lane
Addison, IL 60101
RECYCLE UNUSED EYEGLASSES
Bring the eyeglasses you no longer need to the Addison Public Library. We have a collection box on the Holds Shelf in the lobby. Members of the Addison Lions Club will pick up the glasses so they can be reused.
Donating eyeglasses is a great way to be green and to help someone else at the same time.
If you cannot locate the box, just ask at the Circulation Desk.
TEENS DECORATE LIBRARY FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Teens spent the afternoon decorating the tree in the Quiet Reading Room and the one in the Teen Zone. This year several moms and 1 younger brother joined in.
They wrapped presents for under the trees. And, they wrapped books donated from Children's Services' Book Giving Tree.
It's amazing what teens will do for snacks!
Stop by and see their great decorating talents.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE
Members of the Friends of the Addison Public Library are having a paperback and children’s book sale on Sunday, December 5, from 1:30 to 4 pm. This is the same day as the library's annual HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE.
The books will sell for 25¢ each, 5 for $1, or $3 to fill a bag (adult books only for the $3 a bag price).
Buy some books, and enjoy the Chicago Cossacks and Suzette the Balloon Artist.
If you have questions, contact the Friends at 630-458-3328, leave a message, and your call will be returned.
LIBRARY BLOG
Check out the library's blog, which is intended to keep all of our Addison friends up to date on the newest programs and services for children, teens, and adults. It is just getting started, but it is a great way to stay current with everything that is happening at the library.
CIRCUIT BREAKER FORMS
Stop by the Adult Services Department to pick up Circuit Breaker forms which are available for anyone who needs them. The forms say 2009, but staff checked with the Illinois Department on Aging, and the forms are good through December 31st of this year.
