HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE
Mark your calendars today for the library's annual Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 4, at 2 pm.

The afternoon begins with The Magical Sounds of the Holiday Season. Carlyn Lloyd, flute, and Emanuele Andrizzi, piano, will play holiday music. Sing along to well-known and loved Christmas carols. Listen to music from The Nutcracker, Chanukah songs, and more. This concert is perfect for the whole family.
After watching Lloyd and Andrizzi, Suzette, the Balloon Artist, will make balloon creations—including candy canes, reindeer, and snowmen—for you to take home.
The Friends of the Addison Public Library will provide and serve refreshments.
BOOK SALE
Sunday, December 4, 2-4 pm
On the same day as the Holiday Open House, the Friends of the Addison Public Library are having a paperback and children’s book sale. Books are 25¢ each or 5 for $1.
The group also sponsors the Continuous Book Sale in the Café area and are pleased to receive donations of books, music, and movies. Bring donations to the Friends’ book bin by the Continuous Book Sale shelves. Large donations should be left at the Ask Here Desk in the Children’s Library. Magazines, Reader’s Digest books, encyclopedias, textbooks, cassettes, or videotapes are not accepted for the Continuous Book Sale.
The money the Friends raise is used to enhance the library's resources and to support services that are not within the library's budget. To learn more or to join the Friends, click here.
GIVING TREE
A Giving Tree is now in the library's lobby. You can choose a card and purchase a Christmas gift for a needy child. The library is collecting the gifts for the Addison Switchboard. All gifts must be returned to a public service desk by Sunday, December 11.
The cards on the tree have the sex, age, and clothing size of a child. If you would like to participate in providing Christmas gifts (clothes and/or toys) for needy children, choose a snowflake, and bring back the gifts wrapped with the white cards attached. Please write on the back of the white cards the specific items that you are donating.
Volunteers from the Addison Switchboard will pick up the gifts on December 12.
If you wish to make a monetary gift instead of taking a tag and doing the shopping for the Addison Switchboard’s Christmas drive, you can contact the Switchboard:
Phone 630-628-2698

TEENS DECORATE THE LIBRARY
For the third year, teens came to the library to decorate the tall tree in the Quiet Reading Room as well as the small tree in the Teen Zone.
They also wrapped presents that are under both trees. They also wrapped all of the books donated for the Gift Book Tree that will be donated to the Addison Community Switchboard.
