WELCOME TO OUR E-NEWSLETTER

Information is included about the library's August programs with online registration when applicable. If you no longer wish to receive this eNewsletter, please email Sally Schuster (schuster@addisonlibrary.org).

The library will be closed Friday, August 19, for Staff In-Service Day.

VIDEO GAMES ARE HERE!

The word is out and the games are flying out the door! The library has added Video Games to the materials you can check out! Thanks to a generous donation from the VideogameFriends of the Addison Public Library, this collection is now available. The rules for circulation are similar to those for new feature-film DVDs.

The library has two collections of video games: adult and children. In both locations, you will find games for the Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, Wii, XBOX 360, and PlayStation 3 (PS3). Anyone can check out any game regardless of rating. If a game needs a special controller, guitar, or other device, you must supply your own.

Video games usually  have tutorials to teach you how to use different controls, and some even have the traditional instruction booklet saved on the disc for you to read.

What are the rules for checking out videogames?
• 1 week checkout
• $2 per day late fee
• 1 renewal available if no holds on the item
• 1 game per person

Non-Addison library card holders are welcome to come to APL and check them out.

How do you check them out?
• The empty cases will be out on display for you to browse.
• You take the empty case to the Circulation Desk; check outs on the self-check machines are not allowed.
• The Circulation Staff retrieves the game and puts it in its case and checks it out for you.

SHARE YOUR OPINIONS AND IDEAS: JOIN A FOCUS GROUP

The Library is holding a series of focus groups to gather input from the community, user groups, and partner organizations to help us develop a long range plan, establish priorities for our library, and make the best use of our resources into the future. Your voice is Focus Groupcritical to this end.

Among the questions we will be discussing are:

  • What are the benefits and values libraries bring to our communities?
  • In the next 5-10 years what opportunities and improvements would you like to see at the Addison Public Library?
Please select one session from the following dates and times:

  • Monday, August 15th, 10 am – 12 noon
  • Monday, August 15th, 2 pm – 4 pm
  • Thursday, August 18th, 3 pm – 5 pm
  • Saturday, September 10th, 2 pm – 4 pm
All sessions will be held at the library in our first floor meeting room. Please RSVP to: 630-458-3300 or medjo@addisonlibrary.org.

Please feel free to invite anyone else who you think may be interested in participating in these discussions. We look forward to seeing you.

Thank you for helping the Addison Public Library shape its future!
