SUMMER READING: Reading Is So Delicious!

through Saturday, July 28
There is still time to join one of the Summer Reading Clubs. Choose the program for children (birth – 5th grade), tweens and teens (6th – 12th grades), or adults (18+ years). The theme for children, teens, and adults is “Reading Is So Delicious!”

Each program has different requirements, but each has wonderful prizes that can be earned or won just for reading books. When you come in to register, you will learn the rules.

SUMMER READING SUPPORTERS

In addition to the sponsors listed last month, the library has received several additional prize donations. We are happy to acknowledge these additional donors.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

PHOTO CONTEST: ADDISON REMEMBERED

Submit photos by Saturday, September 1, 5 pm
The Addison Historical Society and the Friends of the Addison Public Library are World Fest 2012sponsoring a photo contest. If you have taken a photo or see something that captures the spirit of Addison, it is perfect for submitting. For example, when your favorite baseball player is picking dandelions rather than following the game, it may sum up youth sports for you.

There are two divisions: youth (through the age of 18 years) and adult (everyone else). Each division has three prizes: $75 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place. To enter you must be an Addison resident and submit a printed photo that is at least 5 by 7 inches. Each entry must be marked with the Addison location, names of those pictured, and date the photo was taken.

Pick up an entry form and submit photos at the library or the Addison Historical Museum 135 Army Trail Road. You can also download one. The last date photos will be accepted is Saturday, September 1, at 5 pm.

Three local photographers will serve as judges. Winners will be announced at the library’s “Addison Remembered” program on Thursday, September 27, at 7 pm. All the photos submitted will be on display at the library program. They then become the property of the Addison Historical Museum.
