MARY CASSATT EXHIBIT OPEN
January 28 through February 13
 The library is hosting a Teacher’s Discovery Traveling Exhibit featuring the fascinating paintings of American artist Mary Cassatt. Giant reproductions are on display in the library's meeting room from Friday, January 28, through Sunday, February 13. The exhibit celebrates Cassatt, the only American painter to exhibit with the French Impressionists!

Several activities are planned to coordinate with the exhibit.
- On February 10, actress Lynn Rymarz will become Mary Cassatt and follow her life's jouney from childhood to becoming the artist she always wanted to be. This program, Meet Mary Cassatt: An American Artist, is cosponsored by the Addison Art Guild. To register online for this program, click here.
- Books about Mary Cassatt are in the meeting room for you to enjoy and check out.
Hopefully, you will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to learn more about this great American artist.

WINTER READING FOR ADULTS

It is almost time to register for the Winter Reading Program for Adults, There's SNOW Better Time to Read!
Anyone 18 years of age or older may join the Adult Winter Reading Program. When you register at the Adult Services Desk, you choose to read four books or 15 hours. The first 70 who complete the program will receive a ceramic mug; everyone who finishes will be entered into a special drawing with lots of great prizes. All entries must be received by 5 pm on March 5.
DOWNLOAD AUDIOBOOKS AND eBOOKS FOR FREE
Borrow audiobooks and ebooks from the library for free. Using OverDrive, you can now download audiobooks and ebooks to Iphones, Ipods, Ipads, Android devices, and more to your computer or a device through the library Website at eMediaLibrary! Browse, check out titles with your Addison Public Library card, and download titles for free.

WORLD FEST AND RECYCLING EVENT

Mark your calendars for the jammed-packed day!
The Recyling Event:
Start your spring cleaning early, reduce your clutter, and recyle the things you no longer use.
10 am-2 pm in the Library's Parking Lot
The library is working with SCARCE to host a community-wide recyling event. Currently, we know we will be accepting computers and their accessories, televisions, small household appliances, household batteries and rechargeable batteries, crayons, Altoid mint boxes, buttons, rulers, dog kennels, cat transport cages, leashes, collars, bird cages, blankets, towels, feed bowls, and watering bowls. We hope to have a few more items to add to the list, which will be available soon at the public service desks.
World Fest
11 am-4 pm
We have planned a day of fun, food, entertainment, demonstrations, fashion show, crafts, prizes. The entertainment includes:
Nardi's and Uncle Harry's will sell food.

Self-Publishing Through Amazon: The Step-by-Step Process
Co-sponsored by Villa Park Public Library
Barbara Gregorich examines in detail Amazon’s self-publishing program, CreateSpace, its pluses and minuses. Her slide presentation depicts the real-life, step-by-step process of publishing a book through CreateSpace, from signing on and setting up an account; to making decisions on page layout, type face, and cover design; to submitting and proofreading; and, finally to publication of the book.

Meet Mary Cassatt: An American Artist
Mary Cassatt grew up in a wealthy family in Pennsylvania. From an early age she wanted to become a professional artist, but there were obstacles she had to overcome. Her determination took her to Paris where she studied works of the master artists of her day.
Actress Lynn Rymarz portrays Cassatt. We will follow Cassatt’s journey as she pursues her dream to become the artist she always wanted to be. See samples of her art work.

Fab Four FAQ 2.0: The Beatles' Solo Years
Local author and pop culture historian Robert Rodriguez knows the Beatles. He presents a 40 minute video tour through the careers of the four ex-Beatles. Learn details about the tumultuous post break-up decade that ended tragically with the murder of John Lennon 30 years ago.
Robert has written or contributed to nine books. He will sell and autograph his books.

Chinese Harp
Chinese harpist Joy Yu Hoffman is a versatile, classically trained musician. Her concert sounds a new voice with an ancient instrument, the Kong Hou. This instrument is a precious artifact in the cultural treasury of traditional Chinese music. In addition to performing, demonstrating, and promoting the Kong Hou, she plays the traditional western harp in orchestras and chamber ensembles and as a soloist.
