It’s national dog week so come in and celebrate man’s best friend. We will play games, hear stories and make crafts. Some crafts will be gifts for your favorite dog or puppy. Bring in a dog item to donate to a local dog shelter, and receive a special dog prize. People are welcome, but please leave your dogs at home.
Pinkalicious Pajama Party!!

Do you love pink! We do too!! Come to the library to hear the story of Pinkalicious, a girl who loved pink so much, she turned her skin PINK! We will also share other books by the author, Victoria Kann, as well as playing games and doing crafts. Come in your pajamas, especially pink ones! We will end the night with some fabulous pink cupcakes.
Polish Dancing
Saturday, October 16, 3-4 p.m.

We will be celebrating Polish American Heritage Month with some young local dancers. Included in this afternoon of fun will be a dance exhibition, a chance to learn some of the steps to the beautiful dances performed, and some light snacks. This is a program that you won’t want to miss!
Halloween Party

Dress up in your Halloween costume and come to our Halloween Party. We will read books, play games, and make crafts. Of course, there will be yummy Halloween treats too!

A lot of people are afraid of spiders, are you? Instead of fearing these creatures, come to the library for “Spider School”. A naturalist from Springbrook Nature Center will show us the amazing world of the spider and teach what makes them so special.
Computer Fun
September 25: 11 a.m.-noon
Grades 2-5
Registration begins September 11; student must have an Addison Library Card.
Learn some new and fun ways to browse the web. Learn to find a picture and change its size and shape. We will have a challenge to see what you learned and you can make your very own sign for your room!
Young Monets
Students grades 1-5; must have an Addison Library card.
Following stories focusing on art and artists, children will create their own art based on a variety of artists’ styles and an assortment of art medias. The afternoon also includes art themed games and activities.
Frida Kahlo: Wednesday, September 15, 4-5 p.m.
The Addison Library will be having a special exhibit on Frida Kahlo.
The Young Monet group will visit the exhibit and then do an art project.

Sculptures: Wednesday, October 6, 4-5 p.m.
We will read about sculptors and make a sculpture.

Crazy for Chapters
Students entering grades 3-5; must have an Addison Library Card.
Participants will get a taste of the book as we begin reading the book together and will receive a copy of the book to keep. We will also make a craft and play a game.
Ivy & Bean by Annie Barrows. Thursday, October 14, 4-5 p.m.
When seven-year-old Bean plays a mean trick on her sister, she finds unexpected support for her antics from Ivy, the new neighbor, who is less boring than Bean first suspected. Registration begins Saturday, October 2.
Ready Readers
Students entering 1st and 2nd grades will learn to enjoy reading and improve their reading skills in “Ready Readers.” Each session includes stories, games, and crafts based on the book for that session. The librarian will read the book aloud while the beginning readers follow the text in a copy of the book. They will receive a copy of the book to keep for further practice reading at home. NEW DAY!
Each class requires seperate registration. Must have an Addison Library Card.
Super Fly Guy by Tedd Arnold: Wednesday, September 22, 4-5 p.m.
Fly Guy visits the school cafeteria and gets the lunch lady fired.

Dirk Bones and the Mystery of the Haunted House
by Doug Cushman: Wednesday, October 13, 4-5 p.m.
“Daily Tombs” newspaper reporter Dirk Bones, who also happens to be a skeleton, investigates when a family of ghost fears that they are being haunted.
