Vinyl Cutter

The Silhouette Cameo 2 is an electronic cutting machine for light-duty, creative use. It uses a small blade to cut materials up to 12 inches wide. It can be used for vinyl lettering, window cling designs, scrapbooking, gift and favor boxes, greeting cards, school projects, custom apparel and card making. The library offers courses to help you get started. Once you are comfortable with the machine, you are allowed to use the cutter without direct Library staff supervision.

Materials

The Library has cardstock, and adhesive vinyl available for purchase. Other acceptable materials that can be used include specialty patterned craft papers, vellum, iron-on transfer material, fabric, wax paper and freezer paper.

Design Preparation & Software

Pre-made designs are available, and designs and patterns can also be traced from other images. The Cameo’s Silhouette Design Studio software, available on the library's macbooks, allows you to design your own unique creations. Once the design is created in the software, it takes the machine just minutes to cut our your design.

Tutorials are available for all different types of projects online.

Cost

The vinyl cutter is free to use. If you bring your own materials, there is no cost. If you wish to purchase materials  from the Library, a 12"x12" sheet of adhesive vinyl is $1.50. Cardstock is $0.10 per 8.5"x11" sheet.
