Difficult Conversations: How to Discuss What Matters Most
Interviews present one of the most difficult convsation we face in this demanding job market. Career coach Jerilyn Willin bases this 90-minute program on theory and techniques developed by the Harvard Negotiation Project. She will share new insights into these conversations and, using examples from business and everyday life, demonstrate tips and techniques on how to be more effective while in them.
This is an interactive program in which participants will:
• understand why some conversations are more “difficult” than others
• become aware of what goes wrong and how to avoid those pitfalls
• learn to find their leverage points in such conversations
• use their own experience to practice a technique for preparing for and starting a difficult conversation effectively
This short program will not make difficult conversations disappear from life. However, the awareness gathered during this program will help participants become more effective at discussing the issues in life that matter most.

Make Your First Impression Positively Powerful
The old phrase, "you never get a second chance to make a first impression," is absolutely true. In today’s rapidly changing business world, how you look, dress, sound, shake hands, and even your body language and facial expressions will contribute significantly to your credibility and overall success. Whether you are going through job search, being considered for a promotion, working on a new project, attending a networking event or meeting a new client, the impact you make when meeting someone for the first time will affect the direction of the relationship.
In this fun and interactive program, you will gain valuable information on how to develop a polished and professional presence. Corporate consultant Susan Fignar will highlight the following topics:
- Elements of a powerful first impression
- Four styles of business attire
- Heighten your non-verbal awareness
- Communicate the proper attitude and overcome self-limiting beliefs
- Self vs. public perception.
