The Library's 50th Anniversary Year Is 2012
January 03, 2012
On October 15, 1962, the Addison Public Library officially opened for the first time. Throughout 2012 we are planning a number of activities to celebrate our first 50 years of serving Addison’s residents.
On Sunday, January 22, at 2 pm, the first program, "1960s Broadway Musicals,” will be presented. Hosted by the Friends of the Addison Public Library, pianist Eugene Kwok will play a number of songs that will bring back memories of this bygone era. Click here to register.
Among the activities planned is the development of a time line which follows the history of the library and Addison. Bring photos of yourselves, the library, and Addison to any of the public service desks. Staff will scan the photos and return them to you. The images will be displayed in the lobby; in January the years 1962 through 1967 will be featured. At the grand celebration in October 2012, the 10 displays will highlight the first 50 years the Addison Public Library has been servings it residents.
Additional programs and activities will be announced throughout 2012.
