Make Big Plans
June 25, 2009
The Newberry Library, in collaboration with the Centennial Committee, has created a 10-panel exhibit to commemorate Daniel Burnham's PLAN OF CHICAGO and emphasize its relevance to metropolitan development throughout the 20th century and into the future. The exhibit is in Adult Services, across from the elevators.
The exhibit will be at the library until September 27.
The exhibit will be displayed simultaneously at more than 50 libraries throughout the region as well as O'Hare and Midway International Airports.
The exhibit features panels spanning five central themes—Planners and Reformers, Rerouting the Metropolis, Nurturing Open Space, City and Region, and From City Beautiful to Green Metropolis—which contain vivid images from the original plan.
With more than 250 partners, The Burnham Plan Centennial offers events throughout the summer and fall. Addison Public Library has planned several other programs that will take place in September. Join us as we celebrate.
