National Friends of the Library Week

Friends of Libraries groups now have their very own national week of celebration, October 18-24, 2009. Our Friends organization works diligently to raise moneys for the Library. The Library Board of Trustees and staff thank them for all they have done and continue to do for us.
The 2009 celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week will be held October 18-24, 2009.
The Friends of the Addison Public Library consists of persons interested in books and libraries and whose purpose is to give financial assistance to the Library by purchasing books, materials, services, and equipment beyond the command of the ordinary library budget. The Friends plan book sales, activities, and events to raise funds and to encourage the community to use the Addison Public Library. Become a member and meet new friends while you support one of Addison's best resources, the Library!
Whenever you purchase a book from the ongoing book sale, you are supporting the Friends. That is one of several ways the Friends raise money.
You may have won a prize this summer that the Friends donated to the Summer Reading Program. You will soon see an amazing new mural in the library's Quiet Reading Room. The Friends interviewed and contracted with two local artists to create this mural.
