At the board meeting held on Tues., Aug. 20, the Addison Public Library Board of Trustees approved a not-to-exceed budget of $12.3 million for the upcoming renovation.
The Board of Trustees scheduled a special meeting for July 30, 2024 at 6:00 PM where the architects will present updated pricing and project plans, including new layouts, furniture, and finishes for the building project. The public is welcome to attend this meeting.
The Board of Trustees voted unanimously to move forward with the Large Plan option "C", which includes moving the stairs, installing a drive-up window, and creates a space for Perks & Possibilities Café.
The Board of Trustees approved a motion to pay the architects on an hourly basis for their time until a decision is made on the scope of the project.
The Board of Trustees revisited the interior renovation options that the architects presented in January. During the meeting, the board members agreed by consensus to postpone voting on any of the proposed plans.
The architects presented 3 new options at the January board meeting that would accomplish different levels of enhancements without requiring expansion of the building.
At the September 2023 meeting of the Addison Public Library Board of Trustees, the Library Board voted to suspend the previously announced building project.
