Community Engagement Associate

Part-time, non-exempt

Hours: 17 hours per week; includes 1 evening shift per week and every other Saturday

Starting Salary: $18.28 - $22.85/hr DOQ; $22.85/hr is the midpoint of the salary range and reserved for candidates who exceed the minimum qualifications and have significant, direct experience.

Position Detais: Do you enjoy meeting new people? Do you love the library and what it has to offer? APL’s Community Engagement Department is looking for an outgoing, energetic, and creative individual to deliver excellent customer service to patrons in our diverse community. Your focus will be to engage with patrons outside of the library at facilities such as the new senior living complex, parks, and local businesses to provide library services to people unable to come to the library. You will have the opportunity to work on special projects, assist with programming, collaborate with other departments, and participate on library-wide committees.

Qualifications:

  • Education: LTA or Bachelor’s degree preferred. (Directly related experience and/or enrollment in higher education may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.)
  • Two years customer service experience required. 
  • Evening and weekend work required.
  • Access to transportation required.

Adult Services (Associate or Specialist)

Part-Time, non-exempt

Hours: 17/week on average; includes a combination of daytime, evening and weekend hours. Must be able to work every Friday (9-5).

Starting Salary

For applicants with an MLS (Specialist): $21.67 - $27.09/hr DOQ; $27.09/hr is the midpoint of the salary range and reserved for candidates who exceed the minimum qualifications and have significant, direct experience.

For applicants without an MLS (Associate): $18.28 - $22.85/hr DOQ; $22.85/hr is the midpoint of the salary range and reserved for candidates who exceed the minimum qualifications and have significant, direct experience.

Position Details

The Addison Public Library is seeking a friendly, creative, and customer-focused person to help patrons with their information needs from basic technology questions to finding that book they once read with the green cover. You’ll also have the opportunity to work on special projects and participate on library-wide committees.

  • Providing support for adult programming, including participation in planning, scheduling, and presentation of programs.
  • Promoting the library’s collection through eye-catching displays and other marketing activities
  • Focusing on internal public desk coverage and behavior monitoring
  • Serving patrons primarily inside the building, but there will be opportunities to represent the Library out in the community.
