Children’s Services Associate

Part-Time34 hrs./every two wk.; Mon. Mornings, Tue. And Wed. Evening, once a month you will be scheduled to work all day Sat. and Sun.  

Salary: $20.20 - $25.25/hr. $25.25 is the midpoint. Internal equity is used in determining the rate of pay.

Position Details  

The Addison Public Library is seeking a customer-focused Children’s Services Associate to help connect patrons with their interests and information needs. Along with providing an exceptional patron experience at the Children’s Services desk, you will have the opportunity to provide programming support and assist with promotions and outreach.

Children's Services Specialist

Part-Time 34 hrs./per pay period, which is every two weeks 

  • 2 Sundays every four weeks, 12:45-5:15
  • Weekly: Tuesday 4:15-9:15, Wednesday 8:45-1:45, Thursday 8:45-1:30

Position Details   

The Addison Public Library is seeking a customer-focused Children's Librarian to help connect patrons with their interests and information needs. Along with providing an exceptional patron experience at the Children's Services desk, you will plan and deliver Children's programming. You may lead Storytime, answer one-on-one meeting requests via zoom and in person, and design and implement craft kits. Our Specialists support a culture of learning and are expected to share their expertise with coworkers. You will also have the opportunity to work on special projects and participate in library-wide committees.

What we are looking for   

  • A great communicator with a positive attitude, knowledge of child development, developmental milestones, and literacy, with a passion for working with children and connecting them to books
  •  An excellent researcher who stays current with pop culture and current publishing trends and knows tools and techniques to provide readers' advisory and references
  •  Proficiency in the use of technology, with the patience and professionalism to guide others
  • An MLS degree from an ALA-accredited institution is preferred. Enrollment in an ALA-accredited library science graduate program may be considered instead of the degree requirement.
  • Two years' experience working with children is required.

Head of Guest Services

$59,940 - $74,926, $74,926 is the midpoint. Internal equity is used in determining the rate of pay.

Materials Management Shelving Clerk

Part Time 17 hours a week:  

Mon. 5-9, Tue. 5-9, Wed. 5-9 and Fri. 12-5 or Sat. 5 hour

Are you an organizer with attention to detail who loves books? Do you like to move around at work bending and stretching? If the answer is yes, we have the perfect position for you. The Addison Public Library's Material Management department is looking for a part-time Shelving Clerk to assist in the accessibility and maintenance of the collection by shelving library materials.

What we're looking for

  • Attention to detail to put books thoroughly and accurately in alphabetical and numerical order without errors.
  • Knowledge of the Dewey decimal classification system.
  • Excellent customer service skills to communicate clearly and effectively with the public and staff.
  • Physical mobility to reach, bend, and lift to shelve, retrieve library materials, and push carts.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) speakers are strongly encouraged to apply!

Book Bike Summer Position

10 hours a week. Start date is June 6, 2022, and end date is August 12, 2022; 10 hour/week typically work Tuesday, 9:15 - 12:15, Thursday, 5:30 - 8:30. and Friday, 12:00 - 4:00.

Stipend: $12 hr. 

Position Details

Are you looking for a position where you ride a bike to events to read books to families and promote literacy and library services? The Addison Public Library's Book Bike Position might interest you. This opportunity will help you develop a wide range of career skills. You will be working with all ages of Addison residents, especially children, and their families.

Duties

  • Riding the Book Bike to locations in Addison.
  • Loading and unloading the Book Bike.
  • Promoting Summer Reading and library programs.
  • Reading to children and their families.
  • Sharing information about library services.
  • Assisting the Community Engagement staff.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to ride the Book Bike a minimum of seven miles comfortably and safely.
  • Completion of Bicycle Safety training at the start of the position.
  • English/Spanish bilingual preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
