Creative Studio & Sound Studio

The Creative & Sound Studios are a do-it-yourself creative space for music production, digitization, crafting, digital art, and other maker projects! 

• Creative Studio: A makerspace with a 3D printer, sewing machine, electronic cutters, and more. 
• Sound Studio: A digital media lab with the full Adobe Creative Suite, sound recording equipment, and digital converting equipment. 

Guidelines:

• Addison Public Library cardholders can book the Sound Studio up to 7-days in advance. 
• The Library may reserve the Creative & Sound Studios and equipment for programs, appointments, and staff trainings.
• When not reserved, the sewing machines, Cricut Maker cutter, and Silhoeutte Cameo cutter are available first-come, first-serve for patrons to use on their own. Patrons must book an appointment if assistance is needed. 
• The Cricut EasyPress and Mug Press require an appointment for staff supervision.  

Once you are ready to start a project, request an appointment. Library staff will respond within 5 business days.  

Our Creative Services Coordinator will be on extended leave starting in mid-August. During this time, we will have limited availability for beginner-level appointments with our IT Associates.

Creative Studio Classes

Equipment

3D Print

Design 3D models or find them online and print them out in the Creative Studio.

Digitize

Put your old photos, slides, cassettes, records, or vhs tapes onto your computer. The library has easy to use equipment for each of these tasks.

Electronic Cutters

Electronic cutters (also called vinyl cutters) use a computer-controlled knife blade to create designs for vinyl lettering, custom card making, iron-on vinyl decals for custom shirts, window cling decals, and more. There are two different brands of electronic cutters available: the Silhouette Cameo 4 and the Cricut Maker.

Heat Presses

Available in the Creative Studio are two different heat presses: the Cricut EasyPress and the Cricut Mug Press. The Cricut EasyPress is a 10"x12" flat iron for heating iron-on vinyl or sublimation prints to shirts, towels, and other flat surfaces. The Cricut Mug Press is for heating Infusible Ink or sublimation prints to sublimation mugs. Learn more about the Cricut EasyPress and Cricut Mug Press. 

Large Format Printer

The Large Format Printer, or Poster Printer, can be used to print posters and images from 24"x24" to 24"x72". We offer Enhanced Matte paper and Semi-Gloss Photo paper. Pricing is dependent on poster size and paper type. 

Sewing Machines

The Creative Studio has Janome Magnolia 7330 and Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 sewing machines for your sewing and textile projects. 

Sound Studio

We offer a private space for recording and editing audio that also contains advanced video editing software.

Sublimation Printing

The Sawgrass SG1000 creates prints using sublimation ink. When these sublimation prints are heated under a heat press, the ink evaporates and absorbs into polyester fabric or poly-coated surfaces, allowing you to create custom shirts, mugs, photo panels, and more.
