Video Games

We have a large selection of video games for the most popular game systems including Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, DS, 3DS, Wii, and WiiU.

A popular spot for video games in the library is the Teen Services department, where there are computers set up for gaming available for kids in 6th grade and older. Kids in Kindergarten-5th grade can also play fun educational games on the computers in the Youth Services department.

If you are interested in streaming or sharing videos of your gaming, you can check out a Live Gamer Portable: 2 Plus and give it a try. This device can assist with live-streaming and recording gameplay so you can clip videos and share on the platform of your choice. Be sure to follow us on Twitch, too!

Want to combine your passion for reading and gaming? Check out one of these books about video games.

Dungeons & Dragons

Dungeons & Dragons is a popular tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) that combines fantasy and adventure. The library has programs for teens and adults to meet and play the game, as mentioned above. If you are interested in getting started playing D&D with your friends and family, we have official D&D guides and rule books to help you learn how to play and plan your own campaign. If you are looking for more casual D&D content, check out these D&D reads or watch some of these D&D movies.

Tip: Do you want to try a different TTRPG system in a similar fantasy setting? Check out the Dungeon World handbook!

Board Games, Puzzles, and More!

Take home a game from our Library of Things! Pickup a board game to play with your family. Check out a jigsaw puzzle with 500, 750, or 1000 pieces. Get your friends together for a murder mystery. It may be getting a little cold outside for lawn games, but many of our large format games can still be played inside if you have the space for it.

The Youth Services department also has a large selection of games for kids of all ages and puzzles for kiddos available to check out. If you are looking for a game to play in the library, the Teen Services department has board games and card games to play while you visit.

If you need help accessing any of our services or resources, call us or visit one of our service desks, and we’ll be happy to help! You also can schedule a 1-on-1 appointment with one of our staff members: addisonlibrary.org/appointments.
