Looking for activities you can do with your kids to help boost their reading?
- Continuing to read aloud with elementary-school aged kids helps them build background knowledge and comprehension, as well as connect with books they may not be ready to read on their own.
- Kiddos love to read books about what interests them. Whether it’s fantasy, nonfiction, graphic novels, or books with silly animals, library staff are happy to help you find the perfect book.
- Sign up for the 500 Book Challenge! A self-paced reading program for kids in grades K-5, you can sign up your child anytime. For every 50 books kids read, they receive a prize!
- One-on-one appointments: At the library we offer appointments in the topics of reading, math, and practicing English for elementary-school aged kids. For more information, go to: https://www.addisonlibrary.org/appointments.
Book picks to get you inspired:
