Programs & Activities for Grades K-5 This Summer

Join us at the library this July and August for a variety of programs and activities for kids in grades K-5!

  • Activity Corner: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 12:30-1:15 PM in the Children’s Services department through Thursday, July 31. We’ll do crafts, play games, and build with LEGOs. There’s a new activity each session; make sure not to miss it! Activity Corner is open to all ages and is a drop-in event; no need to register!

Upcoming programs that require registration:

  • Jumpstart to Kindergarten!: Tuesday, July 8 and 22 from 6:00-6:30 PM
We have two sessions left of Jumpstart to Kindergarten, a special program that focuses on giving kids a “taste” of the kindergarten experience.
  • Read & Write Fun: Mondays, July 14, 21, and August 11 from 4:00-4:45 PM
This new program is geared towards kids in grades 1-3 and will focus on building reading and spelling skills with fun games and activities.
  • DIY Digital Bookmark: Monday, August 4 from 4:00-4:45 PM
Create your own bookmark using the online program Canva and receive a printed copy of your bookmark to take home at the end of the program! This program is recommended for kids in grades 1-5.
  • Real or Fake? Play the Game!: Thursday, August 7 from 4:00-4:45 PM
Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between what’s real and what’s not, especially online. Test your skills in a giant board game and learn how to spot the differences! And you just might win some prizes. Recommended for kids in grades 2-5.

Have you heard about the 500 Book Challenge? This fun and flexible reading program for kids in K-5 is all about reading at your own pace and reading the books you like! You can read with someone or independently, read picture books or chapter books, fiction or nonfiction, or even listen to audiobooks! The next time you’re at the library stop by the Children’s Services desk to learn more and get registered!

To learn more about these programs and other programs and activities we have planned for kids in grades K-5, stop by the Children’s Services desk, give us a call, or check out the library’s events page.
