Looking for activities you can do at home with your child to help boost their early literacy?
- Make conversations count. Talk to (and with) your child, all day, every day. Conversations help build your child’s vocabulary, storytelling skills, and social skills!
- Encourage early writing skills. Scribbles, early letter shapes, a child “signing their name”—it all builds up to learning how to write later on. Make sure age-appropriate writing materials are available for your child to use, such as large crayons and finger paints.
Sign up for 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten! A reading program that is self-paced! For every 100 books you read with your child, they will receive a small prize and a log for the next 100 books. At signup, you will receive a tote bag and a free book, and another free book when you reach 500!
Enjoy these staff picks from our new picture book & board book collections:
- Sleep Tight, Disgusting Blob by Huw Aaron
- What to Do When You’re Not Sure What to Do by Davina Bell
