Whether you're soaking up the sunshine, exploring a trail, or enjoying a night under the stars, your Addison Public Library card can help you make the most of summer.
Walking and Hiking
Craving fresh air and a bit of sunshine? Borrow a pair of hiking poles from our Library of Things before heading out to explore local walking paths like those at the Addison Park District or the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.
Need something to listen to along the way? Browse the library’s wide selection of eAudiobooks and music using the Hoopla app!
Bird Watching
Grab a pair of binoculars or a spotting scope from the Library of Things and a book or magazine on birding. Not sure where to go? The DuPage Birding Club has a list of birding hotspots! You can also check out a Museum Adventure Pass to get tickets to an outdoor venue like Cantigny Park—a great spot for birdwatching and enjoying beautifully landscaped gardens.
Camping
If you are planning a longer outdoor adventure, we have camping supplies! Check out a tent, LED Pro Lanterns, and other outdoor gear for your trip. The library also has a selection of books about camping and Illinois State Parks to help you plan.
Visit the Illinois Department of Natural Resources or National Park Service websites to reserve a campsite or learn more about local destinations.
Stargazing
Borrow our Travel Scope 70 telescope from the Library of Things and browse our astronomy books to learn more about the constellations and the night sky. You can even turn your backyard into a mini observatory!
Wherever your summer takes you, your Addison Public Library card can help you explore more, spend less, and enjoy the outdoors in new ways. Happy adventuring!
