Whether you’re writing an essay for school or a letter to an organization, writing is usually a solitary endeavor. You do research, organize your thoughts, and come up with the wording on your own. But it can be useful to have someone help with brainstorming, revising, or other steps of the process. And before sending it off for others to read, it’s important for someone to review your writing for grammar, structural, or other issues.
Our library has the perfect tool to help. Brainfuse has a Writing Lab that offers expert online assistance with writing and offers live online one-on-one expert tutoring for many subjects, including writing.
Brainfuse’s writing lab allows you to submit your writing and get constructive feedback from an expert writing instructor. You will need to create a Brainfuse account to use the writing lab. Once you’ve entered the Writing Lab page, attach your document, and add any comments that you think the writing expert should know before reviewing your paper. Check your Brainfuse message center for feedback in 24 hours. The tutor will send back the writing with analysis and specific recommendations as well as useful links for further assistance.
Live tutors are available to connect with you every day from 3:00 PM - 10:00 PM. All tutors are trained and certified by Brainfuse, must possess a four-year degree, have prior teaching or tutoring experience, and clear a background check. Registration is not required to get live tutoring help, but it is recommended if you would like to track your progress. Choose a grade from K-12, ACT, College, FAFSA Assistance, or SAT, and the subject. In this case, select "writing" as the subject. Once you click the button to get live help, a tutor will connect with you. The tutoring sessions consist of a whiteboard and chat window. In the chat window, you can type messages to your tutor in real time as well as send them your file. Another option is to copy and paste your writing into a text box on the whiteboard.
