We're so excited to spend the summer telling stories and having fun with you! Check out what's happening this summer at the library:
Summer Reading (June 1-August 18)
Pick up a reading log from the library and start celebrating summer! Fill in a square each time you read for 20 minutes or participate in an activity listed below. When you fill in 25 squares, return your log for a T-shirt and an entry into the Summer Reading Grand Prize drawing! Completed logs may be turned in starting June 10.
Stories
Sharing stories brings families and communities together. You can participate by:
- Reading or listening to stories in books, comics, or magazines. Borrow from our shelves, read your own materials, or use one of the library’s apps to enjoy digital materials.
- Telling and listening to stories with family or friends as you spend time together.
- Sharing your story by writing, drawing a comic, or making a movie.
- Read a book as part of one of our book discussions
Special Events
Zócalo: Fandango
Traditional Mexican music and dance is a vibrant blend of many different cultures. Come along with the musicians and dancers of Son Monarcas as they explore the indigenous, African, and Spanish influences on the rhythms, movement, and melodies of Mexico. This lively, interactive performance featuring authentic instruments and dance engages audiences of all ages with energetic renditions of traditional music, and even a familiar melody that all will recognize and love. Crafts & activities starting at 6:00; the performance will begin at 7:00. All ages; drop-in.

Zócalo: Juggling Funny Stories
You will be laughing out loud as nationally known family entertainer Chris Fascione brings children’s stories to life with his high-spirited and innovative performance. Full of energy, humor and imagination, Chris creates colorful characters through his unique combination of acting, storytelling, comedy, and juggling. Crafts & activities starting at 6:00; the performance will begin at 7:00. All ages; drop-in.

Free Lunches
Provided by the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Join us for lunch every weekday then stick around for activities for the whole family! Meals are available to any child under 18.

Can you build a bridge, design a puppet, or construct a marble run? Come join us and experiment with friends as we tackle a new challenge each week!

Join us for hands-on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) activities.

Kickstart Camps
Keep your brain turned on this summer. Our camps will keep you thinking, making, and learning with projects in writing, coding, engineering, public speaking, civics, and more. Indian Trail students can earn $20 of Project Pride for every day of camp they attend. Check our calendar to sign up in advance and guarantee a spot.
